Ibadan darling soccer team, Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC, is now top of the Nigeria National League after defeating visiting Akwa Comets four goals to one at the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan.
With yesterday’s victory, 3SC maintained their leadership position in the Nigeria National League (NNL) B1, with a 4-1 spanking of Abia Comets at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
The victory put the Oluyole Warriors still on top of the table with 21 points and also brightened their hope of playing in the final 8 play-off to determine the four teams that will join the old 20 teams in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) next season scheduled to kick off in November.
Isiaka Mutiu opened the scoring for the homers barely two minutes into the game as Opeyemi Olufemi doubled the lead a minute later.
The Comets fought back to reduce the deficit in the 59th minute through Ibrahim Olaluyin but 3SC extended their lead in the 65th minute through Olufemi again.
Mutiu equally bagged a brace as he sealed the victory for 3SC in the 78th minute.
Coach of 3SC, Edith Agoye while speaking with Tribunesport said his men deserved the victory.
“We knew what was at stake and we put in our best in the match. Also our away performance boosted our game today. We will work harder to maintain our position on the table because it is not yet over. I commend the players for this wonderful performance today, I’m impressed,” Agoye said.
