2027: Don’t Underrate Makinde – Bala Mohammed

The Bauchi State Governor and leader of the Allied Peoples Movement, Bala Mohammed, has expressed confidence in the party’s chances in the 2027 presidential election, urging Nigerians not to discount its candidate, Seyi Makinde.

Mohammed spoke in Abuja on Monday at the inauguration of the APM’s presidential campaign office, an event he used to outline the party’s determination to challenge the established political forces in the next election.

He said the party’s decision to establish its campaign structure was evidence that it was preparing for the contest with a clear purpose and a determination to offer Nigerians a different political direction.

The governor described Makinde as a tested administrator whose experience in governing Oyo State had prepared him for a bigger responsibility at the national level.

He pointed to the candidate’s management of limited resources as one of the qualities that, in his view, distinguished him from other contenders seeking the presidency.

Mohammed further credited Makinde with undertaking urban renewal and other development initiatives in Oyo State, saying the projects had changed areas that had previously experienced prolonged neglect.

The APM leader also spoke positively about the party’s leadership, highlighting the role of its chairman and his involvement in the wider political community through the Inter-Party Advisory Council.

He maintained that the party was not entering the 2027 contest merely to participate, but to pursue victory with Makinde as its standard-bearer.

Mohammed therefore advised rival political parties and their candidates against taking the APM candidate for granted, saying the strength of Makinde would become more evident as the campaign gathers momentum.

He expressed optimism that the former Oyo State governor’s administrative experience, ability to mobilise people and record in office would resonate with voters across the country.

The governor said the APM would use the campaign to present its vision to Nigerians and seek their support for what he described as a fresh approach to governing the country.
