Legacy is not what am doing because of myself but the sake of the next generation — Viltor Belfort.
When I described Senator BAF as a man who looks beyond the next elections, many people who know the yeoman job of the Senator in Oyo North couldn’t agree less that his legacy is indeed for the next generation.
His political exploits brings to mind the 19th century theory of altruism by a French philosopher, O Isidore Auguste Comte.
Frontally, the ethical altruism targets the wellbeing of others as the end of moral action, not a mean to an end. It’s the nation of I must “do good planted in human hearts”.
I look critically at the raison d’eitre for Senator BAFs benevolent actions -cum developmental strides in Oyo North and I hastily concluded that it must be for the purpose of the next elections. I was wrong.
His enviable deeds are ready made arguments against psychological egoism which is all about Self and self interest. All his own actions are obviously people centered.
Arguably, the fact that is BAF doesn’t take your creed into consideration, your social status and even your Senatorial district, nor your voting strength etc before dispensing his favours really proofs he is typically altruistic. He is like night rain which does not select on which roof it falls.
One of the recent beneficiaries of his training and empowerment program who is a born again Christian said “I have never seen a man like this, first time I sought his assistance in Abuja, the only question he asked was if truly I am from Oyo state? He was however pleasantly surprised to see me in Iseyin recently thanking him for putting Oke Ogun people on his list of training and empowerment. He was glad to hear for the first time that I am from Irepo.”
It will therefore amount to what a psychologist refer as “as a mistake of negative voter” to cast one’s votes in Oyo North Senatorial for another other than this person whose milk of kindness knows no bound.
If value concept, which is the ultimate end of all our social actions, will form the primary basis of our consideration for a person to vote as Senator in Oyo North come 2023, methinks we don’t have to change a ” winning horse.”
Emmanuel Osigwe identifies personal value system as consisting “traits we see worth aspiring to, value that connect us to higher power, skills for driving self accomplishment and lastly and most importantly, our love and care for those we are close to.”
Fitting into these definition of moral values is Senator Abdulfatai Omotayo Buhari, the “Babaluabi” a loosed version of Greater “Omoluabi” and a person to trust at all times.
Let’s honour and appreciate him with our votes again in Oyo North Senatorial. He truly towers above equals. He is the best option.
