An Ogbomoso-born politician, Shittu Olaitan Abede, SOA, fondly called IRE A’KARI has dashed out the sum of 1 million to All Progressives Congress, APC, members in Ogbomoso North local government through his Shittu Olaitan Foundation, SOF as part of his Christmas and new year give away.
Shittu, who hails from Abogunde ward 01 in the council areas distributed the money among 100 party faithful with a minimum of N10,000 each.
At the event, which held on Monday at the office of minister of youth and sports development, Sunday Dare, it was witnessed by thousands of APC members and leaders from Ogbomosho zone.
Saying that the gesture was towards supporting indigent indigent people in the LGA, he emphasized the need for well-to-do Nigerians to come on board to help the less-privileged in the society, regardless of how minute the cash succor may be.
He noted that despite the challenging economic situation in the country, interventions in the areas of access to sound and quality education, provision of scholarships for students, as well as, support for youths and women development must be paramount on the agenda of the government.
During the course of the event, the leadership of the Federation of Ogbomoso Students’ Union identified with SOA, and presented him a meritorious award, for his contributions to educating the young minds in Ogbomoso zone.
In appreciation of the award presented to him, Olaitan noted that, his foundation will register 100 jamb candidates in Ogbomoso North LGA and also organise academics tutorials to further encourage their performances.
The foundation, as a privately funded not-for-profit philanthropic organization, has balanced the odds by putting smiles on the faces of hitherto despondent and hopeless Ogbomoso people.
Some of those who will be the beneficiaries of this academic benovolence gesture, he explained, will in future become pharmacists, medical doctors, lawyers, engineers, among others.
“This gesture is purely humanitarian, and I hereby urged philanthropists and all elites, to help the underprivileged out of extreme poverty and want, the poor and vulnerable citizens across this electoral district, Ogbomoso North to access better life and quality education.
In a separate gathering, aftermath the giveaway event with party leaders, ward chairmen, and women leaders, he also doled out several bags of rice and cash for celebration of the festivity with the chairmen and womem leaders of the party in Ogbomoso North LGA repectively.
