Monsurat Sunmonu, Oyo’s first and only female senator, has described ‘Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, has an exemplar of good governance as he clocks 55.
In a statement personally, the Oyo-born politician who is also the first and only female speaker in the history of the state said Makinde has lived up to the expectations of the masses with the many masses-oriented programmes he has done in less than four years in office.
Sunmonu, who is a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council, said she has been an active part of politics and governance since 2011 and as such can say whether someone has performed or not.
According to Sunmonu, “Governor ‘Seyi Makinde has done well as governor in close to four years and I cannot but commend him for the yeoman job. For more than 42 months, his administration has committed itself to the wellbeing of the common man. He has steer the ship of the state with human face. Everything about him is about the common man on the street. And you would see most of his politics are not elitist but pro-people.
“From education to health to agriculture to housing to urban renewal to transportation, he has facelifted every sector. The people of the state, most especially the workers have not had it this hood.
“As he reaches 55, I will like to join his well wishers to pray God continue to guide him and order his path. He has done well and I know we need consolidation in order to put our state on solid foundation. In view of that, I am joining others to continue the campaign to get him re-elected. This is a uncommon man; despite the numerous achievements which have endeared him to the people of the state, he doesn’t forget to accept mistakes whenever he sees them. And he also makes amend. I pray God almighty be with him and allow him to continue to do good. Congratulations Mr. Governor.”
