Those flying the kite, or plotting to derail the ongoing democratic process by tactically resorting to satanic decoy to annul the 2023 presidential election which signposts a victory for the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu should perish the thought.

A Yoruba sociopolitical group, the Oodua Youths Initiative, OYI, stated this on Monday through a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Oluwade Olumide in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

OYI said various attempts at rubbishing the credibility and subsequently stall the 2023 presidential elections by the opposition party, PDP at the results’ collation stage, points at an attempt to launch a full-scale coup against the Nigerian people that have made their choice of a leader through their votes on Saturday.

“We take serious note of the intrigues being played out by pseudo and anti-democratic forces and their foot soldiers to hide under the cloak of imaginary flawed election to undermine the credibility of the already decided presidential election and frustrate its outcomes.

“We would have maintained our silence and watch, like all other Nigerians until the conclusion of the declaration of result as saddled legitimately by INEC; but it would however amount to a devilish silence to give an easy passage to the enemies of our democracy to replicate their nefarious onslaughts just like they did in 1993 with the questionable annulment whose ghost has yet to be sufficiently laid to rest till today.

“Those who ganged up against the people never scaled through even under the weight of military dictatorship, and we make bold to assert that the victory of Asiwaju Tinubu as being awaited from the electoral umpire will be vehemently resisted,” the group said.

OYI described Tinubu, a two-term governor of Lagos State, and presidential candidate of the ruling APC, as a golden son of Yoruba land, who has sacrificially built his political career and has his tentacles well spread.

The group noted that Tinubu deserves victory in the just concluded election, in view of the confidence already reposed in him, not just by his party, but millions of Nigerians that crave the fresh lease of genuine governance and leadership direction, way off from the myriads of falsehood by political opportunists.

The statement noted that the arrogant disruption of the ongoing declaration of presidential results by the PDP party agents, particularly by Senator Dino Melaye and their disgraceful walkout are all attempts to rubbish the electoral process and get possible annulment.

“Melaye and his fellow voyagers will not be allowed to enjoy through the backdoors, the success of trust and hard work for which the fate of Nigerians feels entrusted into Tinubu’s hand, against the deceitful promises made by his party that has been rejected through the ballots on Saturday.

“As civilized, accommodating and law-abiding Nigerians, we will not sit back and watch a repeat of the sad incident of 1993 where another prominent Yoruba son, the late MKO Abiola was robbed bare faced with a questionable annulment brokered by the likes of Melaye to the chagrin of the nation’s democracy that hurt us for decades after.

“Opposition parties must live to the reality as unfolding through the ongoing exercise. At least, the APC government being led by President Muhammadu Buhari has demonstrated what Melaye’s principal and his party failed to do in bequeathing a credible electoral process that will remain a reference point for historic purposes.

You cannot defeat Buhari in Katsina, and Tinubu in Lagos and then claim this election is rigged, unless you have a first class degree in double standard.

It is hight time Melaye, his principals and his co-conspirators conceded to the reality eclipsing his type of antics and infantile desperation before the world and discerning Nigerians. May we never return to that time!
