Oyo State network of the Young African Leaders Initiative has held its first monthly meet up of the year.
The meetup, which was held at American Corners, Ibadan, featured a personal development session on the topic: Personal Growth and Development.
Speaking during the session, the guest speaker, Amos Ogunola, urged members of the hub and young people generally to be deliberate about their growth process.
“Volunteering is key and a source of immense of opportunities,” Amos, who is a Program Manager at SADI, was quoted saying.
He then identified four key pointers of development that young people must be deliberate about.
These pointers include: Setting goals and achieving them; Feedback and Evaluation; Accountability, and Time management.
A statement by the network’s Public Relations Officer, Adebayo Abdulrahman, at the end of the meetup indicated that the session’s topic emphasises the network’s continuous commitment to the training of the next generation of young leaders in the continent.
Launched in 2010, YALI is the U.S. government’s signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders.
The initiative aims to support young African leaders as they spur growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across sub-Saharan Africa.
It is also a platform where young African leaders can learn how to effect change around important issues in their communities and improve their leadership skills through tailor-made online content.
