Olorunpoto Rahaman Cephas, former chairman of the Oyo Global Forum, has revealed why he wants to represent Oyo East/West State.
I bring you warm greetings and felicitations this Easter Friday afternoon and, particularly, to the Muslim faithful: Ramadan Mubarak.
Aware of the urgency for a service-oriented and people-first representation, which we have for long lacked, and confident of my energy to serve and shoulder the aspirations of others, I am very pleased to announce my ambition to represent our Oyo East/Oyo West State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
My life, almost entirely, is in the public. You all know me. I have an excellent record of work in the service of our community; this is longstanding and demonstrable. I have championed courses towards the advancement of our community and joined others to create safe spaces for the vulnerable in our community.
I have had the rare privilege of being mentored by some of the finest individuals our community has ever produced, most notably among them my late grandmother, Chief Oyin Ogunmola, Second Republic federal lawmaker and Iyalaje of Oyo Land, and my godmother, Distinguished Senator Monsurat Sunmomu, two women of tremendous influence and indelible legacies even in male-centric terrains. I shall remain grateful to them. Equally, I have been enriched by learning how to lead a life of service from my esteemed father-figures – Prince Ajibola Afonja, former minister and foremost industrialist, and Dr. Kunle Ogunmola, accomplished education administrator and National Electoral Commissioner. And about mobilising the energies of the people, regardless of distance, towards public good, I have learnt from Dr. Seun Kolade, professor and founding leader of Oyo Global Forum, which I also have the cherished privilege of leading. So, Dear Constituents, I have come prepared and enriched for service.
In the coming days, I will be in your neighbourhoods and virtual spaces seeking your support and prayers.What I offer is a promise of a quality representation that is service in orientation and agenda and inclusive in scope.
