The Chief of Staff to late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Dr Gbade Ojo has said he may contest the 2023 governorship election in Oyo State.
Reacting to what Aanuoluwapo Omorinde, the Anchor of BOTTOM LINE – a political programme on IBR 92.5fm Ibadan describes as an information in the rumour mill, the Political Scientist said ‘you call it rumour mill in the new year, that is a good one. The truth is that we can not be criticising those in government eternally. If we think we can run the system better, we may decide to throw our hart into the ring but for now, I am still thinking, my people are still thinking. I am in the service in the University and you cannot be a public Servant and call your self a politician simultaneously. When the right time comes, because tomorrow belongs to God for we Christians and for everybody. When the time comes then, everybody will hear whether Doctor Gbade Ojo will be throwing his hart into the ring or not’.
“I have a constitutional right. I am a citizen of Nigeria, I am a Citizen of Oyo State so, what is abnormal in it if I nurse the idea? I may and I may not but I may. Let’s wait and see. A rumour may be right or wrong. All humans are subjected to rumour, people talk about you whether you are there or not. But if anybody for whatever reason could be carrying such rumour about me, oh, I thank God.
‘I am not just a Scholar, I am a Pastor and not just a Pastor but a General Overseer of a Ministry and Osinbajo is a Pastor who is the Vice President.
“Its a good thing because if you are considered incompetent, if you are considered not sufficiently educated, if you are considered when you held public Officein the past that you were not good enough, how could people be carrying such rumour about you? So, let us wait for tomorrow, let us wait for the future. I am still in Public Service as a Lecturer and a Teacher but being a Pastor does not disturb anybody from holding public Office. Moses was a public Office holder, Joshua was a public Office holder, most people in the bible led their Country Isreal and today being a Pastor does not mean you cannot contribute your quota.”
