Re: Response to allegations of administrative and financial misappropriation against Prince Yemisi Adeaga

My attention has been drawn to a letter being circulated to the public and to the members of CCII constituents clubs by the agents of Prince Yemisi Adeaga, outgone President General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes.

    Introduction

Permit me to introduce myself as Balogun Gaphar Babatunde Ojetola, Director General Adeaga Support Group 2021- 2023 and immediate Past Chairman, Ibadan Cultural Festival 2022. I was also a CCII Distinguished Fellow Awardee 2013.

    1. As the DG Adeaga Support Group 2021, it was my idea to raise funds in support of his campaign, from start to finish. The reader should ask Prince Adeaga to account for the funds raised during the campaign, as he is yet to account for the balance of over six hundred thousand naira till date.

    2. My main offence was my refusal to accept his sponsorship of an Ekitiman named Y.O. into the Ibadan Country Club and as a member of the Ibadan Cultural Festival Committee. My principled stand angered Mr. PG Yemisi Adeaga towards my person and that was why he described me as “generally unmanageable, powerful, refusing to take directions from himself”.

    3. The PG Adeaga should be asked what he meant by “PR”and how much he has withdrawn till date from the CCII account without the approval of the Exco except with the connivance of the Treasurer and his Financial Secretary.I thus became non-compliant to his strange and unethical system of administration when during an Exco meeting I openly challenged his arbitrary withdrawal of monies for “PR”. This was only a tip of the PG Adeaga’s numerous malpractices and abuse of office.

    4. Mr PG Yemisi Adeaga should be asked how much contract he awarded to the fiancee of his son without following due process! Perhaps the PG Yemisi Adeaga can tell our people why a plate of food of one thousand five hundred naira(N1,500), as agreed by the Festival Committee, suddenly got awarded for four thousand five hundred naira (N4,500) per plate?

    5. Also, against the agreed stipulated amounts of donation to a chosen church and mosque during Thanksgiving service at the 2022 Ibadan Cultural Festival, Mr. PG Adeaga should be asked where the remaining hundreds of thousands of naira had gone? Or is it a case of “Idagba s’apo”?

    6. Mr PG Yemisi Adeaga should be asked of what happened to the six million naira donated by an awardee during the Ibadan Cultural Festival Business Luncheon.

    7. Mr. PG Yemisi Adeaga should be asked if he has returned the 40 cartons of BigiCola Products he “borrowed” and driven away during the Ibadan Cultural Festival 2022.

The WayBill where he appended his signature to this effect is herewith attached.

    8. Under my Chairmanship of the Ibadan Cultural Festival 2022 and with the great support of all the patriotic members, various team and team leaders, we were able to return in excess of twenty five million naira (N25m) despite unexpected frustrations and hostilities from the Prince Yemisi Adeaga. It is also on note that other promised donations havebeen recovered after the Festival. The PG Adeaga should explain to the public and the constituent clubs of how much in total has accrued from the 2022 Ibadan Cultural Festival and what he has done with the revenue.

The list of pledges and amount pledged is on page 28 of the Ibadan Cultural Festival 2022 Report and herewith attached.

    9. At the Peace Initiative meeting held at Baba Prelate Sunday Makinde’s house, words failed the PG Yemisi Adeaga when he was asked to respond to these and other numerous allegations of misappropriation and abuse of office. He was seated dejectedly and helpless. Despite all of these absurdities, he verbally expressed his ambition to run for second term. it was at this point that a member at the meeting put it across to him that Adeaga would become a MONSTER should he be returned for second term.

    10. At a time, it seemed clear to me that Prince Adeaga’smisdemeanors was to corrode the self-respect of the Office which he occupies as the President General; these to me is to dwarf the achievements of his predecessors and to discount the humble but sterling quota of the other executive members in a slavery mentality approach.

    11. This rejoinder wouldn’t have been necessary had Prince Adeaga and his newly discovered co-travellers respected and abide by the peaceful conflict resolution pathways ably led by our highly reverred His Eminence Prelate Sunday Makinde, Baba Asiwaju Bode Amao, Chief Bayo Oyero, Chief Yemi Soladoye and other eminent, highly respected Ibadan Elders at the first meeting and subsequently at Asiwaju Bode Amoo’s residence.

    12. It will interest the reader that despite the royal intervention of His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, to allow peace to reign, Prince Adeaga dragged us to the Commissioner of Police on the 12 April, 2023. History is being made.

    13. In his response, Prince Yemisi Adeaga alleged that I made a procurement to the tune of N1.1 million without the approval of the Executive. The question to ask of this concocted lie is how could this be possible when I was not a signatory to CCII accounts (?). Prince Yemisi Adeaga has proven beyond reasonable doubt that he is a serial liar and unrepentant blackmailer.

    14. Prince Adeaga is being clever by half. He was present on the three occasions I accused him of his nefarious acts, he  couldn’t respond coherently on the said three occasions. The first occasion was at Prelate Ola Makinde’s House; the second was during CCII General  Assembly; and the third was at Olubadan’s Palace. His present boldness is an afterthought  aimed to pull the wool over the eyes of intelligent people of Ibadanland. He treated criminal accusations from other people just the way he treated mine.

    15. Throughout his lengthy and uninspiring  release, Adeaga refused to respond to specific  allegations. For example, he was accused of diverting millions of naira, earmarked as the scholarship fund for indigent students, to the Guest House project. This is gross misappropriation of fund, a criminal offence but he refused to address the issue, pretending everything is alright and fair. That Prince Adeaga is coming out to respond to these allegations, after several weeks, is an indication of a belated defence that is both deceitful and mischievous.

    16. As an addendum, it will help us all to know why Alhaja Simiat Adeleke Larodo recently resigned her position from the 2023 Ibadan Festival Committee (?) Was her resignation connected or unconnected with the PG Adeaga’s unethical style of appropriation and misappropriation?

    17. On the 13 April, 2023, another History is being made. Soon after rising from a peace meeting with the State Commissioner of Police, Prince Yemisi Adeaga immediately called for an emergency general meeting when the general election was barely twenty-four hours away. It is clear that there must be more to it than this election; the desperation of the PG Yemisi Adeaga is becoming incredible. This kind of abuse of power has never happened in the history of CCII, and may it never happen again.

    18. Please feel free to reflect on this as you exercise your rights to clear and clean the mess of a corrupt officer undeserving of any respect talk less of a second term in office.

Thank you. Ibadan a gbe wa o! May Ibadan excel

Testimony of Baba Chief Bayo Oyero, The Fifth President General CCII

The allegations were levelled against the PG over two months ago at a meeting chaired by His Eminence, Prelate Emiritus, S. Ola Makinde. The meeting lasted about 7 hours. I was there. All those who made the allegations were also present at the meeting. A perfect opportunity to clear his name.

There, he was asked to respond. He had no clue. He’s now responding to those allegations made about ten weeks ago.  Omo re Ile lo re mesi wa.

That day, I was sorry that CCII had him as its CEO. The worst in the history of CCII. To be honest with you, if he is re-elected at the election this Friday, I won’t have anything to do with CCII for the next two years. He’s a disaster.

    BAYO OYERO,

    (Past President-General, 2011-2015)

NOTE: I put my identity, in case you want to broadcast my view, as his response may hoodwink those of you in diaspora.
