Your Excellency sir, permit to suggest to you through this medium, the need for an establishment of a separate Ministry, Agency or Commission with the sole mandate of coordinating all the developmental projects and activities in Okeogun areas of Oyo State.
You will recall that during your campaign tours of Okeogun areas before the 2019 gubernatorial election, you did promise and assured the good people of the Okeogun areas that you are committed to the development of their areas.
Your Excellency, this is the time to redeem your pledge in order to write your name in gold and live in the minds of our people of Okeogun for ever.
We have seen and we are still hearing and watching how previous governors I Oyo state have concentrated many developmental projects in Ibadan alone. So much money have been spent on water projects and sanitation in Ibadan by your predecessors in Ibadan alone without expending near similar amounts to other parts of the state, particularly Okeogun areas.
Your Excellency, this is the time to establish the ministry, commission or agency for the development of Okeogun Areas?
This ministry, agency or commission if established will be located in one Town in Okeogun areas with the representatives of all principal stakeholders from Okeogun that will serve as checks and balances so that it will not be like the NDDC.
The Okeogun Development Ministry, Agency or Commission shall be saddled with the mandate of
planning, designing and implementating all programs and projects that will fasttract the development of the areas in accordance with the millennium goals and in conformity with digital age.
The ministry will monitor and supervise all projects and programs for the sustainable development of Okeogun areas in the field of transportation, road projects, agriculture, training and education of the youths of the employable youths in collaboration with the Ministry of Youths, Ministry of Local Govt and all local government Chairmen of the areas.
Permit me to state without any iorta of contradictions that if the MARGINALISATION of Okeogun persists, I foresee our youths becoming radicalised and going the Niger Delta way. If things are allowed to degenerate to this level and youths resort to militancy in the areas, it will be very difficult to curtail.
Your Excellency! Our people are not happy with successive governments neglect of Okeogun areas in terms of infrastructural development and agriculture among others. What more, the revelations of the humongous spending on Ibadan alone from our common patrimony is enough to evoke resentment of Okeogun people.
Your resolve to accept this suggestion will be a test of your commitment to your words before the election that you are ready and committed to the development of Okeogun areas.
