Commendations have gone to Governor Seyi Makinde for his wisdom in bringing Engr. Joseph Tegbe, into the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State.
Making this disclosure is a pro-Makinde re-election group, gr-EIGHT-er Oyo, who, in a statement by its director general, Ibukun Oladiti, said that Tegbe’s defection has further boosted the chances of the governor and that of the party ahead of the 2023 elections.
The group said only those who don’t know Tegbe or have decided to be mischievous would say the management consultant and partner at KPMG is a paperweight politician, saying that people should stop overrating themselves.
This was just as the group added that the reaction of APC, Tegbe’s former party, though watery, was a sign that it has lost its most valuable asset.
“We at gr-EIGHT-er Oyo like to commend our leader and principal, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for the wisdom in bringing Engr. Joseph Tegbe into our midst. In fact, this is the biggest ‘signing’ in the last three years. Those who have been saying Governor Makinde doesn’t talk would have seen now that he sees things and knows how to pursue them. The bringing on board of Engr Tegbe is a masterstroke. Many didn’t see it coming.
“And that is why we sympathize with the Oyo APC family. We don’t have to blame them. They are right by issuing that statement. There is no way you will beat a child and expect it not to cry. They have lost a golden fish. If you didn’t know, Engr Tegbe was the one holding the APC together. He is an Omoluabi to the core and very accessible.
“Remember how he ran a beautiful and strategic campaign in the build up to the 2019 election. He became an instant hit immediately before the powers-that-be denied him that ticket. And since the party lost, he hasn’t tarried in financing and supporting the party.
“Governor Makinde has done well poaching Engr. Tegbe. He is a great asset to the party and the governor. He is someone who has followers across the three senatorial districts. His coming has further solidified our bid to get Governor Makinde re-elected. Since his coming to join PDP, many of the strong APC persons have been talking to us on how to join us. You see that is a plus for us as we begin our re-election campaign,” the statement concluded.
