The National Secretary of South-west Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA’23), Hon. Bosun Oladele, has extolled the leadership qualities of Ibadan-born philanthropist and the owner of Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort, Chief Dotun Sanusi, describing him as “a rare breed, a gift to humanity,” and a committed patriot on the occasion of his 55th birthday.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the former lawmaker lauded the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Sanusi, for not only exhibiting great courage and patriotism but also inspiring the youth through his contribution to the development of Ibadan and Oyo state.
The statement partly read, “Nothing best illustrates these attributes than the way you have brought your community in Oloyo Village, Ibadan from obscurity and an almost uncharted path to global limelight. You have entrenched yourself with a wide network locally in Nigeria and globally, and your footprints in business and petroleum sectors where you have broken new grounds are gigantic and highly impressive.
“You are not only an inspiration to the youth but lived true to the admonition of the American Essayist and Philosopher- Ralph Waldo Emerson that ‘do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.’
“You are indeed the practical example of turning ‘anything into gold’ with your Midas touch, and your humility is always infectious to anyone around you. No wonder you have friends across the societal strata, from the artisans to peasant farmers, from the poor to the rich, from celebrities to technocrats, from ordinary citizens to highly placed politicians and diplomats, from royal fathers to market men and women, and the list is endless.
“Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, you are truly a man of the people, in love with your community, a lover and respecter of traditional institutions, a developmental enthusiast, a business leader, corporate guru, sports lover, and leader of leaders. Personally, the occasion of your birthday is an opportunity to celebrate an illustrious son of Ibadan, a bosom friend, and a confidant.
“According to Maya Angelou, ‘There’s a marked difference between acquaintances and friends. Most people really don’t become friends. They become deep and serious acquaintances. But in a friendship, you get to know the spirit of another person, and your values coincide. I wish you many more years of worthy existence and celebrations,” it continued.
