The appointment of Mr. Sunday Dare as the Minister of Sports and Youth would bring greater, unprecedented progress to youth and sports development in Nigeria , a former gubernatorial aspirant, Mr. Ayodeji Karim said in Ibadan yesterday.
Ayodeji who contested for the governorship ticket of Oyo State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last general elections expressed confidence that the antecedents of Sunday Dare as an outstanding journalist, an international youth trainer of repute and impactful politician had prepared him adequately to succeed on the job.
The APC chieftain stated that the new minister of Youths and Sports could, with his experience, knowledge and competence serve meritoriously in any other ministry, but added that “earning the portfolio of Youth and Sports at this moment when the government intends to focus more on youths was a confirmation of the trust the President has in him.”
Fully prepared for the task, Mr. Karim remarked that,” it was very heartwarming that the minister had on assumption of office promised to unlock the potentials of youths in the various parts of the country beyond sports and that he was not going to concentrate all efforts on soccer at the expense of other games capable of expanding our frontiers in sports.
“I am highly impressed with his smooth take off as the minister of Youth and Sports. He has equally exhibited a good grasp of administration and leadership, the two vital qualities needed to succeed as a minister. I am very hopeful that he would bring about the much turn around we require in the development of youth and sports generally in our country. Certainly, he would make the President and Nigeria proud.”
While congratulating Sunday Dare on an excellent take off, Karim felicitated with the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State and all the people of the pacesetter state for having an excellent representative in the national cabinet.
Mr. Karim disclosed that all the former gubernatorial aspirants are with Sunday Dare and that they had resolved to give him their total support.
