As the race for who succeeds Hon. Yakubu Dogara as speaker of the House of Representatives, hots up, Prince Akeem Adeyemi, who has just been re-elected to represent Oyo federal constituency for the second term, has been appointed Southwest Coordinator of Gbajabiamila Speakership Campaign Council.
This, OYO INSIGHT learnt, was made known when Governor Abiola Ajimobi met lawmakers elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at his Oluwole private residence last night.
Though only 6 out of the 9 APC reps members from Oyo attended, Ajimobi admonished them to toe party line by following the decision reached by the leadership of the party in determining the leadership of the 9th Assembly and to support the aspiration of Gbajabiamila as the next speaker.
Though OYO INSIGHT couldn’t get to know what was responsible for their absence, the trio of Honourables Olusegun Odebunmi, Olajide Olatubosun and Shina Peller we’re absent at the meeting.
Recall that Bunvic, as Odebunmi who has just been re-elected for the second term is fondly called, is also aspiring to be speaker.
Responding, on behalf of the legislators, Skimeh as Prince Adeyemi, who also doubles as the coordinator of the Oyo APC Reps caucus, appreciated Ajimobi for providing a sound leadership and positive direction for the party.
He, however, promised Ajimobi their full cooperation, after each member had spoken in acceptance of the governor’s endorsement of Gbajabiamila.
Consequently, APC members-elect from Oyo State, pledged their unflinching loyalty to the party and promised to abide by the choice of Gbajabiamila as the speaker of the 9th Assembly.
