As a way of making the All Progressives Congress, APC, stronger and formidable in their local government, senatorial district and Oyo State at large, a leader of the party, Alhaji Sina Alabi on Wednesday met the lawmaker representing the southern senatorial district, Sen. Sharafadeen Alli in Abuja.
At the meeting which took place inside the lawmaker’s National Assembly office, Alabi and Alli, who are both from Ibadan North local government, harped on the need to empower not only the constituents but members of the party across the state.
Alabi, while speaking further, said that though it was sad that the party was unable to win the governorship election, adding that “the party members must not be allowed to suffer. Our senator, Barr. Sharafadeen Alli has started very well and people have started commending him. I know those who didn’t vote for him but are now applauding him. This is not to heap undue praises on him, it is to motivate him to do more.
“Our distinguished senator, I know the kind of person you are and that is why people are at home with you. I want us to as a matter of fact not to forget the teeming party faithful. We must not leave them to wander about. Nothing is too small. We don’t have a governor. Whenever you are doing empowerment, let members of the party to benefit. By doing so, we are encouraging them. And hopefully, I know they will also be energized to attend meetings and other party functions. You can also talk to other National Assembly members from the state who are of our party to also assist those in the domains too. We are building a strong party base by doing so.
“In Ibadan North where we both come from, the party is virile already. People know your worth. It isn’t today. Your experience remains unmatched. You are pioneer chairman of Ibadan North local government. That was even at a tender age. You were secretary to the state government, chief of staff and chairman of Odu’a group. In fact, this was not the first time you would win a senatorial contest.
”We are solidly behind you. And I must tell you that we are more than proud to have you from our local government and as our senator. You have started well. Double the work and I know our people are not ungrateful,” Alabi said.
In his own remark, Alli assured Alabi that he would not relent in his bid to make life meaningful for the people of his senatorial district and the state at large.
Appreciating Alabi for the visit, he said more meaningful empowerment will be rolled out in weeks to come, adding that he would consider both constituents and party members.
