A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Niyi Akintola has said it is important to think twice before reaching an agreement with any politician.
Akintola said this in a reaction on a Whatsapp group,Oyo Political and Economic Development Summit, sighted by OYOINSIGHT.COM Sunday morning while reacting to the ongoing crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in South West.
He wrote: “Which agreement amongst the progressives have been fulfilled of recent? Is it the one between UPGA stakeholders and the 1964 election boycott? Is it the one amongst the stalwarts of PPA after the 1979 elections?
“Is it the one leading to the formation of PDP in I998 in which the Progressives midwifed her constitution? Is it the agreement that led His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON,into the ACN in 2006/2007?
“Is it the one that saw us drafting Nuhu Ribadu into the presidential race in 2011? Or is it the contraption called agreement between ACN, CPC, APGA, and ANPP with a larger chunk of PDP governors called new PDP?
“Did we not betrayed each other and are we still not in the betraying game? The truth of the matter is that having an agreement with a Nigerian politician is like dining with Lucifer himself. In the past, we were warned to armed ourselves with long spoons in dining with the devils but these days, the Nigerian politicians, (Sorry, the devils) have gone digital in the acts of betrayal so every prospective diner much procure spoons of different sizes, long, short, wide and curves.
“Depending on the size, position, venue and make of the dinner. You must have variety of spoons or cutleries. The Nigerian politicians are mostly Luciferians. They fulfill agreement more in breaches and repay good with evil. It has nothing to do with political parties but more in our characters. Shine your eyes compatriots in reaching any form of agreement with any group of politicians.
“We warned some of our leaders and we explained to them the difference between “merger “ and “acquisition “ in 2014 . Our warnings were dismissed at the expense of “naivety” . We are professionals in Politics but they are professionals in politics, we were reminded. They are all alive today to witness the perfidious acts of some party leaders that would make the devil himself green with envy.”
