As Nigerians join the global community to celebrate this year’s Eid-el Adha (Ileya) festival, a gubernatorial hopeful of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Dr. Olusola Ayandele, has urged Islamic faith adherents and other Nigerians to pray for the success of the nation’s 2019 general election in view of possible challenges being envisaged within and outside the country.
Ayandele, said in a statement signed and made available to journalists in Ibadan by the Director-General of his Eruobodo/Stainless 2019 Campaign Organization, Hon. Ademola Ojo, that the occasion of this year’s Ileya festival offered an opportunity to foster unity and harmony among the citizenry regardless of the nation’s diversities as another period of general election approached.
“The celebration of religious festivals like this affords us the opportunity to showcase love for one another and also seek the face of God in our individual and collective affairs. Therefore, as we make merry and spend good time with family members, loved ones and others people in the society, it is imperative for us to remember our dear country in prayer as it concerns next year elections for obvious reasons.
“Meanwhile, we use this opportunity to felicitate with Governor Abiola Ajimobi and his wife, Chief (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi (The Alaafin of Oyo), Oba Saliu Adetunji (The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi (The Soun of Ogbomosoland), Oba AbdulGaniy Salau (The Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Samuel Adegbola (The Eleruwa of Eruwa) among other revered traditional rulers. Also, we congratulate Chief Imam of Ibadanland and other religious leaders as well as members of the executive committees, esteemed members of the APC and every other resident of the state on the occasion of this year’s Ileya celebrations.
“In the last seven years, it has always been festivities in peace, harmony and tranquility as far as Oyo State is concerned. To allow for continuity and consolidation, the good people of the Pacesetters State look up to our great party to throw up an ideal candidate for the forthcoming governorship poll and this is where the stakeholders in the APC need to work towards the direction of the Eruobodo/Stainless option.” Ayandele concluded.
