‘Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, will determine who the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, house of representatives members from the state vote for as speaker of the green chamber, OYOINSIGHT.COM has been told.
This newspaper understands that Abass Tajudeen, the preferred choice of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is slugging it out with seven others which included Idris Wase, Ado Doguwa, Miriam Onuoha, Muktar Betera, Sada Soli, Aminu Sani Jaji and Yusuf Adamu Gadji.
OYOINSIGHT.COM recalls that PDP won 5 out of the 14 house of representatives seats in Oyo State. While Stanley Olajide (Ibadan North West/South West) and Abass Adigun (Ibadan North East/South East) were re-elected, the trio of Shina Oyedeji (Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola); Anthony Adepoju (Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North) and Ojo Makanjuola (Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere) are fresh lawmakers.
While speaking with OYOINSIGHT.COM, some of the lawmakers who spoke on condition of anonymity, said if they were to go on their own, “most new members would vote for Betera. But in all, our leader, Governor Makinde will decide for us.”
Another lawmaker-elect told OYOINSIGHT.COM explained that “Hon. Batera will win a free and fair election. But luckily, the PDP members from the southwest will support whatever the incoming president— Asiwaju Bola Tinubu wants. And as things stands, it seems the three new members are in solidarity with the majority freshers in their support for Betara.”
