The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo Central senatorial district, Yunus Akintunde, has felicitated Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
Yunus, in a statement made available to newsmen in Oyo, his hometown on Friday, noted that this year’s Eid festival provides a unique opportunity for Muslims to pray for the country.
“Eid-el-kabir is a special festival in Islam, and this special nature means numerous blessings abound in this period.
“As Muslims, we are expected to make personal sacrifices, but Ileya is a festival that reminds us of one of the greatest sacrifices anyone can make: the sacrifice of a son,” Akintunde wrote.
The Oyo-born politician, who is the first Nigerian to be awarded a PhD in Energy, called on Muslims to use the uniqueness of this festival to pray for Allah’s interference in the affairs of the country.
“We should also pray that Allah guides our leaders to the right path,” he added.
