As Muslims across the world start their compulsory 30 days fasting period, Ramadan 1447 AH today, Senator Buhari Omotayo Abdulfatai has congratulated them on the commencement of the Holy Month.
The Senator in a press release issued and made available to journalists in the early hours of today by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Semiu Azeez charged Muslims in Oyo North, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole to make best use of the period to pray fervently for peace and tranquility in every part of the nation.
While describing Ramadan as a special month in a year when people do away with evil deeds but get closer to God via supplications in days and nights, Senator Buhari hinted that God forgives sins and blesses his creations in the month.
According to him, God answers prayers, the bridges of peace and violent attacks that are claiming lives of innocent citizens of the country by terrorists and bandits should be reported to God by Muslims so that peace can be restored back to the nation.
Senator Buhari who identified the act of giving to the needy as one of the cardinal teachings of the holy month advised the well-to-do personalities to assist the less privileged in having a hitch-free one month of fasting and prayers.
He disclosed that as the ambassador of people of Oyo North and Oyo State in the Senate, he shall continually do his best by making best use of the opportunity given to him by his Constituents to reduce poverty among his people.
Senator Buhari said ‘to the glory of God, between last year Ramadan and now, he has given white collar jobs to reasonable numbers of his constituents with the Federal government agencies and also facilitated entrepreneurship and digital training and empowerment in order to eradicate poverty among the people in Oyo North and Oyo State at large.
He disclosed that he cannot do it all but that before the expiration of his tenure as a Senator, more people will be liberated from the shackle of poverty and economic dependency.
The legislator enjoined Muslims to observe all their obligatory and voluntary prayers and uphold the commandment of their Lord concerning fasting during the holy month as taught by the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
“I prayed that every Muslim that commences Ramadan 1447 AH today, shall see its end and observe many of the month on the surface of earth in good health and wealth,” The Lawmaker said.
