Segun Taiwo, former house of representatives’ member, has urged politicians to emulate Bola Tinubu, presidential aspirant and national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the kind of politics he plays.
The Oyo-born politician, who recently resigned from the Seyi Makinde administration as vice-chairman of the Pacesetter Transport Service, PTS, commented Tinubu for visiting the governor while on a condolence visit to the state.
According to Taiwo, who is now with the APC, explained that politicians should stop the idea of not attending events organized by friends who is not in the same party with them.
“It is a malady. Despite our political differences, we should still be friends. I don’t have any thing against Makinde. I resigned willingly. The governor is not in the know of what is happening in some agencies. And if he invites me for any function in the future, I will gladly attend. Why the noise about my resignation. I was in office for a whole year, without doing anything. They have been going to ward and local government meetings, shouting my name. Am I so important? They should leave me alone. How many can do like me and resign? Politics should not be seen as a job but a means to serve people. It should be vocational.”
On what his next political move would be, Taiwo, a journalist, said “I will now commence political evangelism according to Tinubuism. Nobody, except Tinubu, has that enviable record of spotting men and women who have become great in the affairs of Nigeria presently.
“With Tinubu, there is a great chance of recovering from economic doldrums. Tinubu has not been convicted by any court. From 600 million, he raised Lagos internally generated revenue to 20 billion naira. He has become an issue and subject of envy and he hasn’t told anybody not to come out. So they should leave him alone.”
