The caretaker chairman of Surulere Local Government Area, Iresaadu. Hon Isaiah Adegbite yesterday gave out free School uniform, Shoes and Socks for about three hundred pupils
A month ago, Hon. Taofeek Oyenibi, the supervisor for education in the council had led the free uniform team on an assessment tour to 30 schools across the ten wards within the local government.
Ten pupils were selected from each of the 30 schools from each wards, which amounts to 30 ppils from each ward that received school uniform, shoes and socks.
About four hundred people also benefited from the empowerment program. Beneficiaries were selected from ten wards within the local government.
The council boss, who spoke after the programme, said it was important to be self employed, adding that “in most cases, people find it so challenging to begin business due to financial challenges, lack of investors or partners. This made us to put smiles on the faces of our people.
“I give thanks to Almighty God for making this programme possible. I also thank my leader, Governor Seyi Makinde who found me worthy of this appointment as the caretaker chairman of the council.
“I can’t achieve this without the team work of our team members- the caretaker committee members, and the staff of our great local government,” he added.
Items distributed included motorcycles, generators, pump spraying machines, coolers, cooking gas cylinders, amongst others.
Traditional rulers, caretaker committee members, religious leaders, party stalwarts and PDP leaders were all present at the empowerment programme.
