But for God, two-term member of the House of Representatives, Akeem Adeyemi, would have been killed or injured by thugs working for chairman of the disciplinary committee of the Park Management System, PMS, Mukaila Lamidi on Saturday.
Skimeh, as the former Atiba council chair is fondly called, is son of departed Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Alaafin of Oyo.
Buses belonging to the Oyo prince and that of the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, were vandalised in the process.
At a popular fuel station at Alakia junction, just as they were arriving Ibadan from Ife where they had gone for a family function, the notorious thugs, on sighting some of the buses with APC inscriptions, Auxiliary boys, who were at the spot at the time with their principal, jumped on the road, chasing the buses in the process.
“We were in Ibadan already. We had just got to Jeje petroleum station when we saw people coming towards our direction. They were shouting ‘thief thief thief, get them, wound them, kill them…’. Our drivers tried their best before some of our people scampered for safety.
“Some of our people got injured in the process as the windscreens of some of our buses were vandalized in the process,” one of the occupants of the buses who did not want name in print for fear of attack, told OYOINSIGHT.COM.
In a chat with the Oyo prince, he said “we should just be grateful to God. We thank God for our lives. Let’s talk later…”
Only recently, the publicity secretary of Oyo APC, Olawale Sadare, condemned attack on members of the opposition as well as vandalization of billboards and property belonging to his party members.
