Prominent Ibadan sons and daughters on Sunday attended the fidau and burial of the Iyalode of Ibadanland, Alhaja Aminat Abiodun. She died on Saturday at the age of 93.
Amid eulogies, the remains of Abiodun, the only female member of the Olubadan-In-Council and 13th Iyalode of the city, were brought into her residence at about 5.04pm.
She was interred at about 5:30pm after Islamic prayers and rites had been performed by two Islamic clerics, Sikiru Asimolowo and Chief Imam of Ashi Central Mosque, Ibadan, Alhaji Lateef AbdulSalam.
Some of the dignitaries who graced the occasion are Governor Abiola Ajimobi, a Director of Punch Nigeria Limited, Dr Lekan Are, Chief Kola Daisi, Dr Kola Balogun, Senator Teslim Folarin, former President General, CCII, Chief Bayo Oyero and incumbent, Chief Yemi Soladoye, a former Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, Oyo State, Yemi Taiwo, Senator Soji Akanbi and Elder Wole Oyelese. Others are Mrs Folake Olunloyo-Oshinowo, Chief Rashidat Otiti, Mogaji Abass Oloko, Chief Akinade Fijabi, Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi, the Ekaarun Olubadan ,Hameed Ajibade.
Earlier, at a public Islamic prayer session held on the premises of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdul-Ganiyu Agbotomokekere, enjoined people to live for the wellbeing of others.
