A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo state, Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan on Thursday distributed cash to empower his loyalists and party leaders in Ibadan North East and South East local government areas of Oyo state.
OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that the rosy relationship between Olopoeyan and Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State had turned sour shortly after Makinde’s inauguration.
Olopoeyan, while addressing his loyalists and some party Excos from the two council areas, thanked them for the love and support they have been given to him so far, assuring them of political dividends.
Urging his loyalists not to feel disappointed since they have been neglected and were unable to get reward from the Makinde administration which they labored for, Olopoeyan explained that “As you can all see, all of them got to power and betrayed us. We championed the course for them, during raining and under hot sun, day and night, we were there for them before and throughout the campaign in 2019. After winning the elections, they neglected us, determined to reduce our strength, but God is with us, we never felt their absence. Even those who are nobody and unavailable during the struggle are now the ones enjoying our sweat.
“Today, I want to give out cash to as many as possible to boost their businesses and also as a start-up capital for some people who wish to go for small scale business. Even if we are not in government, we can still do many things to make life meaningful to ourselves.
“I have arranged N30,000, N20,000, N10,000 and N5,000 respectively. It is little but I am sure it will assist in running your businesses. Soon, a mega empowerment will come up. Like I said, we are not in government that we worked for but we are better off, compared to those in the Makinde administration.
“There is an issue between me and governor Makinde, though created by him but some people who had never won an election in their polling units are now standing as leaders, using the avenue to sideline my loyalists and party Excos belonging to me in some local governments. They said all of you are not entitled to get reward from government you worked for. I am not bothered, let them continue, all of them will regret their actions.
“I heard they screened out my loyalist names as beneficiaries of Hon. Abass Agboworin’s empowerment. Though, I got information that Agboworin knew nothing about it, but the handiwork of these same people calling themselves leaders in my local government. Just leave them with the problems. Today already, I have added all those that were removed to my own empowerment list and I am giving them what they are to give them there, in as much we don’t wish them bad, we will always exceed them politically,” he added.
