The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East / South East federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedapo Lam-Adesina got more than what he expected today as residents of Felele honoured him with an award for representing the community well.
The youthful Lam-Adesina, whose late father- Alhaji Lamidi Adesina, governed Oyo State between 1999 and 2003, grew up in the area.
As part of efforts to boost electricity supply to the area, the former commissioner had gone to commission a transformer he provided for the area. Unknown to him, the various groups in the community had concluded plans to honour him. The community has been battling epileptic power supply for years.
Only yesterday, the chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, commissioned a renovated maternity centre, whose facelift he facilitated, at Omowumi area.
This is apart from the numerous empowerment schemes he has instituted and deployed to the benefits of the people of Ibadan, especially his constituents in the two local government areas.
The award, the representatives of the groups said, was in recognition of his sterling performance as a federal lawmaker.
This is just as the groups endorsed the second term bid of the youthful lawmaker, who will be 40 on October 25, 2018.
Chairmen of the Community Development Council, CDC in Ibadan North East and Ibadan South East local government areas, Alhaji Fatai Oloyede and Dauda Odelade as well Engr Babalola Famade, chairman of Felele/Olorunsogo Community and Environs Development Association, FOCEDA; Elder Tomi Olugbemi of Police Community Relations Council, PCRC of Felele and Mr Olusumbo Olayiwola of FOCEDA youth all took turns to shower encomiums on the lawmaker, who is the youngest from South West, Nigeria.
Presenting the award, Elder Olugbemi said that “We are not only surprised by his achievements, we appreciate this gesture. Ever since he became a federal lawmaker, even when he was commissioner, his name has continued to dominate everywhere. He needs to be studied. I don’t know where he got the zeal and energy. He is simply fantastic. I have been asked to tell you that we are solidly behind your second term bid. We will do all within our power to mobilize support for you. We are grateful for this. Everything he has done makes me remembers his late father.”
Obviously overwhelmed with joy, Omo Oloore, as he is fondly called, said the commendations and award would spur him to do more, adding that “Without you, I wouldn’t have been here. I will continue to represent you well. I will continue to be a positive reference point so that my age grade and those after us can emulate us. I cannot do everything but I believe that by the precedences we are laying, the future is bright. I want to urge you to support our party, the ADC, in the forthcoming elections.”
