The senator representing Oyo Central senatorial district at the 8th National Assembly, Alhaja Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu has been commended for the spirited efforts toward the human and community development in the domain.
The citation was made on Monday by President Mohammed Buhari at the commissioning of the newly constructed asphaltic 3.3km road at Oke-Ayo linking Orogbangba, Amero, Ogungbade, Aladun, Kukumola, Adeji and other environs at ward 4, Egbeda Local Government area.
President Buhari who was represented by the Honourable Minister for Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole glowingly eulogized the facilitator, Sunmonu for bringing the plight of the residents of the community to the notice of the federal government.
He said the project was among the nineteen approved by Mr. President for the first quarter of 2018 to control flooding and erosion within Oke-Ayo community and its environs of Egbeda Local Government in Oyo State courtesy of the Senator representing the district.
Delivering her remark in an effervescent gathering which attracted house owners in their hundreds, Sunmonu expressly thanked President Mohammed Buhari for the gracious approval of the developmental work in controlling the perennial flooding in Oke-Ayo and its adjoining communities.
She also applauded the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha for the speedy process of the application for the construction and the ultimate delivery of project through the Ecological Fund Office within the short period of time.
Sunmonu maintained that the motive behind the facilitation of the work was to put an end to the constant flooding which had claimed many lives and property and desertification of the communities by the hapless house owners and commercial operators.
She further maintained that the gesture was part of her electioneering avowals to seeing to the developmental decadence across the eleven(11) local government areas of her district through the federal ministries, departments, agencies, corporate and international communities.
Sunmonu said the construction of the road with the durable and modern culvert and drainage would help in quickening the resuscitation and stimulation of the age long moribund social and economic activities of the linking communities.
The Chairman, Oke-Ayo House Owners Association, Com. Fashina Sholadoye Isiaq corroborated by Engr. Awobode Mustapha, the Community Road Project Chairman lauded the Senator representing the district for the series of the developmental projects being situated in their community since her assumption in office.
