Dame Abimbola Fashola, wife of former Lagos governor and Minister of power, works and housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, on Saturday said that women are nation builders.
This is just as he added that if good values are not inculcated in female children for them to become women with good character, the society will be in shambles.
She spoke in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, during programme to mark the birthday of Mrs Ebunoluwa Asiwaju, who is the chief executive officer of Ankara L’anta.
This is just as Mrs Fashola also advised women especially those going into politics to be themselves, and not lose themselves to situations around them, adding “Be yourself, say it the way it is; not everybody will like you. But be truthful, know your limitations and love God.”
She urged women to know their desires in life and channel their energy on good things. She said women should be able to manage their home effectively irrespective of the nature of their job saying “you must never be too tired. You must be very good as a wife, mother and business or career woman.”
On her part, Asiwaju said women should learn how to turn unpleasant situations to their advantage. She encouraged women to network and to never give up on God and themselves.
Asiwaju stated that she decided to bring 50 women together on her birthday to share experience, network and learn from each other.
“It had always been my dream to bring women together and share my dreams,” she said, adding that “she hoped to continue the project on a quarterly or annual basis.”
At the event were wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Naomi Ogunwusi, gospel musician, Mrs Tope Alabi and other top women in the society.
