The lawmaker representing Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa and Kajola federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Shina Abiola Peller, yesterday visited Sani Bello, governor of Niger State, over the abduction of school children in Kagara area of the state.
Peller, who posted the visit on his verified social media handles, served as secretary to Bello when they were both in the state reconciliation committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, during the Ondo primaries.
Today, I paid a solidarity visit to my leader, His Excellency Abubakar Sani Bello, the Governor of Niger State over the recent abduction in Niger State.
I served under him as a secretary at the Ondo State Reconciliation Committee and I make bold to say he is a statesman and a peacemaker, and his role as the Chairman of the committee played a vital role in uniting stakeholders and thus securing the electoral victory of the APC in the gubernatorial elections.
It is quite unfortunate that the abduction happened in his state. However, efforts are ongoing to ensure that those kidnapped are returned safely.
Governors of Ekiti, Plateau, Sokoto, and Nasarawa states were also present to show support to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State.
All hands are on deck to ensure that Nigeria becomes safe again. But it is a collective responsibility. We need to tone down inflammatory comments and speeches and avoid turning the nation’s security challenges into an ethnic conflict. Criminals do not know any tribe, race, or religion – so we should resist fanning the embers of division, and disunity.
There’s a consensus on the need to rapidly implement community policing to improve the present security situation.
Nigeria must move forward together in peace and harmony. The country won’t be better off if it breaks up rather it will become a war-torn failed state and NOBODY wants that.
Let us continue to pray for the peaceful return of the abducted schoolboys in Kagara, Niger State. #VoiceoftheCommonMan
