Palms Mall, Ringroad, Ibadan, has been sealed following last night’s reported killing of a graduate of Ibadan Polytechnic.This was just as policemen and other security agents were stationed at the entrance of the facility, obviously to forestall breakdown of law and order. They were with close to 10 security vans.
The young man, Akinola Babatunde, who graduated few weeks ago, was said to have been shot in the private part allegedly by a policeman.
Babatunde was said to have been shot while resisting attempt to arrest him by policemen who had been drafted to the premises.
He was said to have been caught smoking substance suspected to be marijuana.
An eyewitness, who spoke didn’t want name published, alleged that “he was about to be arrested when he tried escaping through ShopRite perimeter fencing. So one of the police officers pulled trigger twice, and he died immediately”.
