The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli has said that he is the most qualified of all the candidates contesting for Oyo South Senatorial District.
The former Secretary to the Government of Oyo State stated this while featuring on a Lagelu FM radio program (Bosenlo), in Ibadan on Saturday.
According to him, he emerged the candidate of the APC for Oyo South Senatorial District based on his experience, capability, integrity and the confidence people of Oyo South Senatorial District have in him.
“I emerged the candidate of APC in Oyo South Senatorial District based on experience, capability, integrity and the confidence people of the District have in me. I have a record that is very hard for any candidate in the Senatorial District to beat. Apart from the fact that I have been in politics before any of them; I have also held different political positions before any of them. I’m also a lawyer. I will not be employing any lawyer as a consultant when I get to the Senate. I already know and have a proper understanding of my position as a Lawmaker. I also have a lot programs that will have direct impact on the lives of the people.”
ON DEVOLUTION OF POWER
Alli said devolution of power will be one of the major constitutional reforms, the All Progressives Congress (APC), government under Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the lawmakers will embark on when elected in 2023. Devolution of power will not only promote rapid development of the country through the local government but will also help in preventing concentration of political and economic power at one level of government.
ON OYO LOCAL GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION AND AUTONOMY
Alli frowned at the attitude of the current dispensation in Oyo State which according to him has incapacitated most Local government chairmen in Oyo state from performing their duties.
“The current administration in Oyo State has rendered most local government chairmen useless. The Governor is in charge of the allocation and he decides what to give each local government in the State. That is why today, Oyo State is one of the states where the State House of Assembly has not attended to the bill on local government autonomy. I can assure that APC government under Senator Teslim Folarin will right this wrong come 2023.”
