The youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State, Mr. Adekola Adeoye, is the latest victim of Governor Seyi Makinde’s intolerance for dissidents.

While others have received their April salaries, Adeoye’s salary is being withheld for no official reason.

His grouse, according to party source who confided in OYOINSIGHT.COM, was that he went against Makinde’s wish by supporting Eddy Olafeso instead of Taofeek Arapaja in the just concluded PDP Southwest congress held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Adeoye’s salary hovers around N85,000 and N100,000 monthly. “Atimes, he and others in his category get N85,000, and another time, N100,000. It depends on the allowances the party gets each month,” said the source.

“Many party Excos are dissatisfied with the running of the affairs of the party. Apart from being disrespectful to them, he does not see them as an integral part of his success. Imagine our leader, Governor Makinde starving the party and buying Prado jeeps for those who aren’t even close to that position. It is not encouraging.

”I can remember how our secretary, Hon. Wasiu Adeleke confronted Adeoye before the congress for not supporting Olafeso. I think Adeoye had replied him that Governor Seyi Makinde has not told them who to support at the time. In fact, they all met in Osogbo, venue of the congress. They didn’t travel together from Ibadan,” the source added.

OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that Adeoye, had dumped African Democratic Congress, ADC, where his political godfather, former governor Rashidi Ladoja was leader, for PDP, in the build up to the 2019.

This newspaper also recalled how, Adeoye, a known youth mobilizer, and three others, had mobilized themselves in December 2019, to the Supreme Court, Abuja to offer solidarity for Makinde. Makinde’s election was affirmed but they were unlucky on their way coming. They were almost home when their bus, belonging to the youth wing of the party, had an accident around Alakia/Adegbayi area of Egbeda local government area. One of them, Yemi Adeniran, popularly known as Yemi Likedat, lost his life while Adeoye and two others were hospitalized after sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

OYOINSIGHT.COM was unable to speak with Adeoye as text sent to his airtel number has not been replied as at press time. However, one of his close associates confirmed the development.

The MTN line of Akeem Olatunji, publicity secretary of the PDP in the state, was not available when this newspaper called early Monday morning.
