Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ibadan North East local government, Mr. Taiwo Iyiola, has revealed how he got news of his purported suspension on social media.
Iyiola, who hails from the same ward with Governor Seyi Makinde, is a loyalist of Alhaji AbdulRasheed Adebisi Olopoeyan, who has a running battle with Governor Seyi Makinde over alleged neglect in political appointments.
According to Iyiola, who spoke in an exclusive interview with OYOINSIGHT.COM Tuesday evening, he was seated beside the state secretary of the party, Hon. Wasiu Adeleke, who was listed as one of the signatories, when he saw the news on Facebook.
He said that he was neither accused of anything nor invited to any disciplinary panel before the action was taken.
OYOINSIGHT.COM had reported how the state working committee of the PDP had slammed Iyiola with a suspension over alleged anti-party activities.
He said: “I was at a function with the state secretary of our party, Hon. Wasiu Adeleke, somewhere around Oja’gbo when I saw it on Facebook that I have been suspended as chairman.
“They accuses me of anti-party. But if we are to go with the real meaning of anti-party, I haven’t committed any crime. What did I do? I was at the house of Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan when a chairmanship aspirant for PDP in the Southwest visited. That was all. Is Chief Eddy Olafeso not a PDP member or what are we talking about?
“How do you suspend someone without fair hearing? The chairman of the party in ward 12 was coerced to sign petition leading to my kangaroo suspension. It was signed in the office of the caretaker chairman of Ibadan North East and forwarded to the state chapter. It is laughable. Though the secretary has promised to take it up at the state level,” he added.
