The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced the seizure of 3,311 bags of foreign rice.
The Customs Area Comptroller for the command, Adamu AbdulKadir, who said this while conducting journalists round the seized goods, said the command also confiscated 221 cartons of imported dry fish and nine sacks of Indian hemp.
Abdukadir said the seizures were made between February 1 and April 30, 2021.
He added that 487 kegs of Premium Motor Spirit were also seized.
The comptroller said all the goods were seized from the border areas.
He said, “From February 1 to April 30, 2021, the command generated N15,890,489,479.26.
“This figure is the cumulative of import duty from bonded terminals, excise duty from factories under the excise net, auction fees and all other ancillary charges into both federation and non-federation accounts.”
He said this amount was generated within three months.
