Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has declared that the upgrading of the Ibadan airport to an international one is being financed by the state, not the federal government.
Makinde made this declaration on Thursday when he took Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, and other PDP NCOC Executives on a tour of the ongoing upgrade at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan.
Also present during the tour is a former Finance Commissioner in the State, Bimbo Adekanmbi.
Recall that the Airport, scheduled to commence operations soon, was briefly opened to enable President Bola Tinubu land in the state during the coronation of former Governor Rashidi Ladoja as the Olubadan of Ibadanland in September.
The Airport is expected to commence operations in time for the People’s Democratic Party to host its national convention in Ibadan in November.
