The Deputy National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bolaji Afeez Repete has revealed that Oyo State Government has received 72 trucks of CACOVID palliatives out of the 124 trucks it is billed to get from the Federal Government for onward distribution to the people of Oyo State.
The former special adviser on youth and sports during the administration of late former governor Abiola Ajimobi disclosed this while speaking via the telephone with Aanuoluwapo Omorinde on IMPACT POINT – a Weekly Current Affairs programme on IBR 92.5fm monitored by OYO INSIGHT.COM
It would be recalled that the People’s Democratic Party in Oyo State in a statement issued by its Spokesman, Engineer Akeem Olatunji has called on the Police to arret Repete for making inciting statements that is capable of jeopardizing the peace of the State.
Reacting to the call for his arrest for alleging that the State government is hoarding some palliatives in some locations within the Secretariat, he said “that is a joke taken too far and I am sure they will not do that. I would not want to sound as if I am threatening anyone but I am very sure they will not try anything funny”.
When asked how he got to know the number of trucks the State government has taken delivery of when he is not in government, he replied thus – “that is the difference between APC and the PDP. In APC, everything is done transparently. Even the State government has not denied the information I gave, they only said they are waiting for a good time to distribute them. We only appeal to them not to share it to PDP members only because it is for everybody.”
On why he pulled down the post on his social media page, Repete said he did that in obedience to some Elders in the State who prevailed on him to give peace a chance.
But Micheal Ogunsina, a notable youth in the Oyo State Chapter of the PDP, responding to the submissions of Bolaji Repete, said it was dissappointing to hear someone who has served as Special Adviser on Youth Matters to a Governor making such provocative statements.
He noted that it was wrong for someone who is not in the government of the State to pretend as if he knows how the government of Governor Seyi Makinde works hence, the call for his arrest.
