Oyo State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources Barrister Temilolu Seun Ashamu has appealed to members of the public against vandalization of the light facilities provided for people’s use in major towns and cities across the state.
The appeal came as a result of a noticable increase in road accidents and called on the driver’s to be watchful of the light polls while driving.
The Commissioner noted that the good intention behind the procurement of such public facilities may be defeated if they are not properly managed and protected by the people in their various communities.
Speaking in a statement issued in Ibadan, Barrister Temilolu Seun Ashamu also called on the people to be vigilant and report any case of vandalization to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources or nearby police station for proper action.
He said that the light up project embarked upon by Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde was to boost socio-economic , beffitting environment and to ensure that nowhere is safe for criminal to hide to perpetrate their heinous act.
The Commissioner used the occasion to commend Governor Seyi Makinde for ensuring better life for good people of Oyo state.
He however called on members of the public to protect the facilities so as to ensure its durability and sustainability.
He hinted that Government had already provided 50 kilometers of Street light for cities and towns across Oyo State.
He also noted that when the whole project is completed Oyo state would wear a new look .
