Not happy with the leadership crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State, a leading governorship aspirant, Akeem Agbaje, said that party needs genuine efforts that can accommodate every tendencies within it.
The legal luminary and former chairman of the Ibadan Bar Association, made this known in a press statement Thursday morning.
OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that there have been arguments and counter-arguments, especially since Monday when Ajiboye Omodewu, who was last issued certificate as the party chair in the state, inaugurated other state and local government executives.
But according to the Ibadan-born politician and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife graduate, “Let us preach unity with sincerity. The unfolding events within APC in Oyo State would suggest that we have not learnt anything from 2019. The same narrow and selfish sentiments are driving us. One thing that is certain is that when we are divided, it is the surest road to failure.
“The plots and the sub plots are driven by narrow interest with the sole aim of gaining advantage over others. It’s not strictly one group against other groups, even within other groups there is obvious signs of mistrust. In this kind of situations, no one wins. When we over dribble or dribble our own team mates, the opposing party would naturally be better positioned to win.
“A party or group cannot seek to gain undue advantage over others and believe that the next thing that has to be done is simply to plead with aggrieved parties to forgive or accept what has been done and let us move on.
“It is time for us to stop playing needless games. It is time to make genuine and sincere efforts towards accommodating all sides as much as possible.
“What is at stake is more than being the best at outsmarting others, a united Oyo APC is in the best of aspirants and party members,” he said.
