In what could have been fatal and extremely damaging, a leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Kayode Adanla escaped death by luck in the early hours of today.
Adanla, who was financial secretary of the Oyo State chapter of the APC, had left his office for home last night to prepare for the Ramadan beginning only to be woken up by one his daughters who had perceived some smells.
It was after checking the rooms inside and couldn’t trace anything that they got outside around 2:35am that they saw the car in flame, inside the compound.
Though the Mercedes ML 500, which he bought over a year ago was razed, Adanla, his wife and daughter succeeded in putting the fire out so as not to affect the house and the other cars.
In a chat with OYOINSIGHT.COM, Adanla, who was full of praise for God, said “Alihamudulilai. Join me to thank God! I could have lost everything in this world but the Almighty Allah took control! My car was razed inside my compound over night.”
Asked if the SUV had a mechanic fault, he said “No. Only God knows. It was grace of God, myself, my wife and my daughter that saved the day for us.
“If not that my daughter was sensitive, we would have been caught unawares, sleeping upstairs. she was the one who perceived the strange smell and traced it to the car park and raised alarm. Only God knows what could have happened. All the cars in the compound and the entire building could have been consumed in the inferno,” Adanla who plies his politics in Ibadan North local government explained.
