After a decade of delay, the Oyo Alaafin Community, Manchester Branch, has renewed call for the completion of the Ladoke Akintola University, LAUTECH, Teaching Hospital annex, Oyo.
Dr Ademola Adeleke, chairman of the group, said the call was reinforced by the motion moved on the floor of the house of Assembly by Hon. Olorunpoto Rahmon Cephas representing Oyo East/Oyo West State constituency for the completion of the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Annex, which has been abandoned for over ten years.
“We appeal to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, to include this project in the 2025 budget as a continuation of his administration’s
commitment to uplifting healthcare in Oyo State.
“Leveraging His Excellency’s progressive policies, we believe that completing this hospital
will not only provide life-saving medical services but also inspire future generations of
Oyo’s children to pursue careers in medicine and healthcare. For more than a decade, the
dream of having a fully functional, state-of-the-art healthcare facility has been deferred,
and with it, the opportunity to nurture local medical talent.
“The LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Annex, once completed, will serve as a center for medical
research and professional training, boosting the morale of our children who aspire to
become doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals. The importance of completing this
facility cannot be overstated, as it represents a significant opportunity to address the
healthcare needs of our people, while also creating employment and advancing education
in critical fields.
“We implore the Governor to continue his administration’s tradition of magnanimity and
progress by ensuring that the project is included in the 2025 budget allocation. We believe
this noble gesture will leave a legacy for Oyo State and its people.
