The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Oyo State has told Governor Abiola Ajimobi to be magnanimous enough and stop implementing his alleged anti-masses policies and programmes of over seven deadly years as he prepared to leave the Agodi Government House.
The ADC, in a statement issued by its acting Public Relations Officer, Olawale Sadare, condemned the APC administration of GovernorbAjimobi over “skyrocketing poverty rate, increased tension and uncertainty in the land on account of mismanagement of the people as well the resources at the disposal of his government.
“There is nothing more anyone who played one role or the other in the victory of Sen. Ajimobi in 2011 and/or his re-election in 2015 can do to justify his or her actions because even the most fanatical supporter of this current administration cannot explain why the governor would consistently formulate and implement politicies that are of little or no benefits to the common man for over seven years.
“In Oyo State today, the opinion of the majority does not matter to the ruling class so far the interest of a privileged few around the corridor of power is guaranteed. Far less than one percent of indigenes and residents benefit in terms of state policy implementation while aliens get better patronage in the areas of political appointments, contract awards and consultation.
“As if this was not enough, payment of salaries and other statutory allowances to workers has since been relegated to pave way for wasteful spending of government resources while the ubiquitous cry of pensioners on account of non-payment of pensions and gratuities continues unabated with its attendant casualties on a hourly basis.
“Cases of abandoned and moribund state projects are another bitter pills that are perpetually left in the mouth of the people even if we decided not to comment on many white elephant projects conceived only to siphon money from the public treasury. All this anomaly takes place without any restraint and yet those at the helms of affairs think more about how to cause further harm to the masses.
“However, as much as we would like urge Governor Ajimobi to have rethink and consider the majority of the people in the few months left, we call on all those being victimized at the moment to remain hopeful and steadfast as there is a ray of light for them at the extreme of the dark tunnel. Workers, pensioners, market men/women, traditional rulers, students and other categories of the citizenry will definitely survive and tell their story in joy very soon.” Sadare said
