In a remarkable display of his dedication to the development of education, the lawmaker representing Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency, Oyo, Hon. (Prince) Akinmoyede Olafisoye Wasiu yesterday distributed a wide range of educational items worth 100 million naira to no fewer than 3000 students and 100 public primary and secondary schools in his constituency.
The event which was held at the Faith Joe Events Centre, beside Community Grammar School, Alegongo, Ibadan was marked by celebration and appreciation from several prominent political startwarts and stakeholders in the education sector that graced the occasion.
The programme aimed to stimulate the standard of education and enhance the quality of learning among the benefited students was organized by the lawmaker in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
Items distributed were, White board, Black board, Marker, Duster,
Highlighter, Staple machine, Scientific calculator, School bags,
Lunch boxes. Mathematic set, exercise books 40 leaves, 60 leaves and
80 leaves respectively with several amounts of money given to each benefited schools to aid their movement to the venue.
In his speech, Hon. Akinmoyede Olafisoye Wasiu explained that the initiative is a way to give back to his constituents and thanked them for their unwavering support for him.
According to him, “these items will help to enhance and uplift educational and learning activities among the benefited schools, their teachers and students alike.”
Hon. Lafi who commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde, all the three senators and House of Representatives members from Oyo, 32 state House of Assembly members as well as the Chairmen of Akinyele and Lagelu local government for their efforts at improving the lives of the people, assured that he will not relent in his effort to support and facilitate initiatives that will lead to development of his federal constituency and Oyo State as a whole.
In her good will message, the Oyo State SMEDAN Manager, Mrs Ojogbede Iyabo Mabel lauded the initiative which was facilitated by Hon. Akinmoyede Olafisoye through her agency, stressing that the Lawmaker has shown himself as a model for political office holders. “What Hon. Lafi is doing today challenges those aspiring for political offices to prioritize impactful initiatives when they get to power, she remarked.
Some beneficiaries in their reactions stated that the initiative will have a significant impact on the educational development of Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency.
They described the Lawmaker as a leader who has dedicated himself to the well-being and prosperity of his people through several projects and programmes he has initiated since the year 2023 when he was elected into the House of Representatives.
Among the schools that benefited from the initiative are Almajri School, Akinyele, Community High School, Alabata, Community Primary School, Elemona, IDC korukoru, IDC new site, Ojoo, Islamic Mission School, Onikokoro, Community High School, Arulogun and others.
Dignitaries that graced the event include Hon. Joshua Oyebamiji, Hon. Murphy Adigun, Hon. D.A. Lawal, Architect Hassan Giwa, Hon. Ope Salami, Hon. Mukaila Ambali, Chief Kehinde Balogun, Chief Biodun Amoo, Hon. Femi Akintunde and others.
