Osinbajo Mourns Exit Of Oyo-born Businesswoman

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has mourned the exit of Oyo-born businesswoman, Mrs. M.A Adekunle.

Osinbajo, in a letter signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, addressed to her son, Prince Adetayo Adekunle, wrote that her legacy is evident in his “own public spirit and commitment to progressive ideals in the development of our country.”

“I am confident that you will keep that touch even after the transition of Mama who raised you with so much love, care and responsibility.

The late Mrs. M.A. Adekunle alias Iya Bukky or Iya Super was born over sixty years ago in Oyo Town, Oyo State of Nigeria. She is the youngest sister of the popular Islamic Leader and Businessman, Alhaji Rasheed Adesokan, the Baale Bodija and Balogun Muminni of Yorubaland*

She had her primary education in Iware area of Afijio LGA and her secondary education in Ladigbolu Grammar School, Oyo Town.
She thereafter trained as a typist/stenographer specializing in shorthand, longhand and desktop publishing etc.

She worked as a Typist/Stenographer/Confidential Secretary in the following companies: Adekunle Elewi Biscuits (owned by former Communications Minister Haruna Elewi), Ajide Olaiya Nigeria Limited (Lagos) amongst others. She later became a businesswoman who traded in clothes and food items.

Till her demise on Friday, 4th December, 2020, she was married to Alhaji Adekunle Super for forty years. The union was blessed with prosperous children viz: Adebukola, Adeola, Adetunji & Adetayo respectively.
