The National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) had warned states and citizens of the likelihood of flooding across several states in the country.

Ajibode Oke-Ona, which lays at the back of the University of Ibadan, has been experiencing flooding for several years, the worst being in 2011.

According to a statement from one of the community’s leaders, Dr. Bayo Busari, there is an urgent need for the state government to come to the aid of the area to prevent loss of lives and properties.

He said several houses have already been submerged by water, and unless urgent intervention comes to the area, some other buildings may also be affected.

He called on the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde and the authorities of the local government area to extend the hands of assistance of the state to the area.
