In furtherance of his efforts at fulfilling his campaign promises to his constituents, the lawmaker representing Irepo, Olorunsogo and Oorelope federal constituency, Olumide Abiodun Ojerinde has facilitated a training for cassava and yam farmers.
The training which was held at the Bayo Ojerinde memorial hall, Igboho yesterday, was aimed at improving the standard of tuber farming in his constituency and was handled by Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service in conjunction with Letrix Technology and Consulting.
While the Igboho centre focused on yam farmers, the second center, at the igbeti town hall, focused on cassava farmers.
In his welcome address, Ojerinde who was represented by Mr Adeyemi Aferounmu, informed the farmers that they are always in the thoughts of the lawmaker and that his boss is doing his possible best to put his constituency at the front in all ramifications
He further highlighted that Omo Olore, as the lawmaker is fondly called, has sponsored a bill at the green chamber to establish a cassava processing company in Igbeti.
The highlights of the event was a comprehensive training on modern method of planting cassava and yam which was handled by Doctor Yemi Popoola after which questions were entertained.
The training is billed to continue today where further methods will be imparted to the farmers and certificate will be awarded to the participants
Among dignitaries that graced the event were the APC chairmen in Oorelope and Irepo local government areas, Hon. Mohammed Jisoro and Hon. Awoyale respectively as well as other party stalwarts and leaders in the constituency.
