The new Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland and owner of Ilaji Hotel and Sport’s Resorts, Engr. Dotun Sanusi, together with the Association of Ibadan Mogajis led by Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori, as well as Ibadan Chiefs have commended the Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his commitment in ensuring speedy completion of the new Olubadan Palace located at Oke Aremo, Ibadan, saying history will not forget the governor’s effort towards completion of the palace.
They expressed joy that at last, the highly respected traditional institution of Ibadanland will once again have a decent Palace.
A statement signed by the Chiefs thanked the President General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, (CCII), Barr. Chief Niyi Ajewole, all his Executives and members for their consistency and doggedness which facilitated huge success received from Governor Makinde and all the Local Government council’s in Ibadanland.
According to them, the huge support of governor Makinde remain a landmark “as this will not only complete the Palace, but will definitely make the Olubadan of Ibadanland to move to the new Palace in a matter of months.”
History had it that the first Ultra modern Olubadan Palace situated at Oja’ba was constructed and commissioned over four decades ago.
But lack of space and other logistics challenges were responsible for the construction of another Palace which was hugely facilitated by the CCII.
The land where the new Palace is situated was approved during the administration of Chief Kolapo Olawuyi Ishola while the further extension was done during the regime of High Chief Senator Rashid Adewolu Ladoja.
The first grand breaking of the Palace Construction was done during Administration of late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who equally supported commencement of the construction from the scratch.
