The compound heads in Ibadan, otherwise known as Ibadan Mogajis, have cautioned a section of the traders’ union in the state against go against the wish of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji and Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi over the appointment of Babaloja and Iyaloja-general in the state.
The Mogajis were reacting to statement credited Coalition of Traders, Artisans, Market Men and Women in Oyo State, saying that the monarchs imposed the occupants of the two positions.
OYOINSIGHT.COM understands the monarchs had appointed and installed the duo of Alhaji Y. K. Abass and Princess Azeezat Folashade Nurudeen as Babaloja-General and Iyaloja-General respectively.
Cautioning the coordinator of the group, Chief (Mrs.) Odunayo Kayode Danjuma, who they referred to as a dissident, the Mogajis thanked Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, for aligning with monarchs.
“What the two revered royal fathers did was in order. It was agreement long arrived at before the expiration of the tenure of the previous occupants and nothing more. While the Olubadan was given the task to install the Babaloja, the Alaafin was saddled with appointing and installing the new Iyaloja-general and that was what they have done. Anyone who is not in agreement should keep shut and not insult our royal fathers. We won’t take any further denigration of the royal stools with levity.
”We thank the governor for aligning with our royal fathers on this. We want to assure that we will always give them the needed advise in moving their association forward and greater heights.
“We will also like to urge the new Babaloja-general and Iyaloja-general to commence work in earnest so as to justify the confidence reposed in them by members of traders’ union,” Mogaji Ademola Olasomi and Mogaji Abass Oloko said the statement.
