Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, chairman of the Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council, TSGICC, over the weekend met students and traditionalists from the 10 Okeogun local government areas on the need to work for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming elections.
Apart from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the APC, the retired permanent secretary said that Teslim Folarin, governorship candidate of the party in the state offers the best programme out of the major candidates seeking to govern. He said Folarin has the needed political and administrative experience to rescue the state.
At a separate meeting which held at the Igboho country home of the immediate past deputy governor which had Sen. AbdulFatai Buhari and other candidates of the party in attendance, Olaniyan explained the imperative of electing APC at the next election.
According to him, Tinubu’s presidency is an opportunity to make life easy for the poor and and their children, adding that it is a task that everyone, especially non-politician, should embrace.
He added that Okeogun and Oyo State stand to gain more if all the candidates of the party are elected together with Tinubu.
”This time around, we must not do kampala politics where you will say I will vote for this, I won’t vote for that. All the candidates of the APC need to be elected for our country to consolidate on the gains of the outgoing Muhammadu Buhari administration.
“These people I am campaigning for, I have sat down with them. I have seen their programmes. They have programmes for all segments of the society. Students and youths are going to be the greatest beneficiaries. You know Asiwaju believes in youth empowerment. You can see some of the people around him. Sen. Folarin and Buhari also started at tender ages, before the clocked 40. So be assured of their performances.
“If we work and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu wins. Imagine if Senators Folarin and Buhari as well as other candidates of our party in the state also win. What do you think will happen? Sen. Teslim is an experience politician who knows the working of governance and how to network for the benefit of his people. Sen. Buhari, who is a former house of representatives member will become a ranking senator and would be considered for leadership position. Sen. Buhari would also help the four house of representatives members from our senatorial district and they would work in unison to bring more developmental projects.
”So, let’s all support their aspirations. They are people I can vouch for. They will not neglect you. They will be concerned about developmental projects,” he said.
In his brief remarks, Senator Buhari corroborated Olaniyan, saying that he and others would not let the people down.
