Gaffer of Shooting Stars Edith Agoye has blamed his boys’ performance on fatigue from days transit by road.
The PUNCH quoted the technical boss of Oluyole warriors as disclosing this on Sunday in an interview with journalists in Gombe, shortly after the Nigeria Professional Football League match between Shooting Stars and Gombe United.
The match which ended in a goalless draw saw both sides garnering one point each.
Agoye said, “It was a very difficult game for us. It was tough for us considering the fact that it took us a long journey almost two and half days before we got here and the players are tired from the long journey from Ibadan – fatigue; and we came here to meet a Gombe United team that is very good, technically very solid.
“We are very happy with what the players were able to put up in the game despite the difficulties they encountered. We thank God that at the end of the day we were able to get a point.”
Also speaking, Zubairu Aliyu, Gaffer of Gombe United lauded his boys’ performance.
He identified anxiety as a major challenge his side suffered from while the match lasted.
“It is an unfortunate scenario we didn’t everything humanly possible. We dominated the game but we lost too many chances, at times it comes like that. There is nothing hampering our chances,” Aliyu said.
